5 Stars Regarding sound quality and price
You could buy a pair of speakers that cost less like I did but let me save you the trouble. The ones I bought from CA produced fair sound quality but it wasn’t good enough for me and I sent them back. If you like you music to sound great like I do, spend the extra money and buy these. On the other hand, I see no need to spend any more than this either. These really are the sweet spot between high quality and low price.
3 Stars Good speaker upgrade with minor faults to consider
I purchased these JBL speakers to replace my iMac’s stock poor sounding speakers. The JBL’s do put out excellent sound quality for the most part. They have buzzed once – When I checked the line – their was some dust on the male contact prong. I used some can air and blew the dust off. It then returned to normal. I have played all types of music through them from classical to rap and it all sounds good and clear and when turned up quite loud for a little set. Does not get distorted when turned up.
I do have a few gripes. The duet plug has this huge box on the outlet is that really necessary? Why can’t it have a normal size plug? I had to get a whole new outlet tree to support this plug! The speakers also have this REALLY annoying GREEN power light on each speaker. I used a piece of tape to cover them up. Also, the volume/power switch on the right speaker is difficult to grab. I have to pick the whole speaker up every time and use two hands to turn it on or off. Otherwise my computer looks like a xmas tree with all the colored lights on it.
5 Stars Nice price performance for a small space
They are light in weight and small in footprint. The setup instructions are the height in minimalism: you actually have to imagine yourself in front of the diagram to know which is the right and which the left speaker. To me, the sound is clean and uncolored. I get a real kick out of Amazon USPS arrival estimates: nine calendar days from “shipment” from Phoenix to delivery in Colorado Springs. Those logistic maniacs actually accomplished it in six.
5 Stars Sound Czech
Won a refurbished pair from eBay for peanuts: $10.50 ($8 shipping). Running them off a humble Mac Mini. Decided to put them through their paces with a select set of soundtrack music: Umiliani (Genova, Piazza de Ferrari Dalle 2 Alle 7); Morricone (Il Grande Silenzio); Miles Davis (Ascenseur pour L’Echafaud); and Rolfe Kent (Asphalt Groovin’, from Sideways).
My jaw dropped. Just to make sure I checked out Morricone’s “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.”
All I have to say is WOW. Pure highs and midrange, more than decent bass. Don’t get Hanya’s 3-star blas
