Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 Firewire Charging Portable Audio System for iPod Black

With its well-regarded inMotion system, Altec Lansing has raised the bar again with the iM600. Featuring a myriad of new technologies, the iM600 offers big, crystal-clear sound, and it folds up compactly for easy portability.

With Expanded Sound Stage technology, the speakers sound further apart than they really are for a bigger soundstage. View larger. View Remote. |
Superior Sound in a Small Package
Employing dual two-inch neodymium drivers that are optimized for high-frequency sound, the iM600 offers unmatched musicality and clarity. Despite its compact size, the bass is punchy and has good extension, and with Altec Lansing’s Expanded Sound Stage (ESS) technology, the speakers will sound further apart than they actually are, for a greater stereophonic image.
Elegant Design Matches the iPod
The iM600 sports a distinctive thin and elegant glossy-black look. A spring-loaded button deploys the speaker’s stand and reveals the iPod dock, power button, and volume controls.
Your iPod perches front and center, resting at an angle to display the current track information and album art while recharging. If your iPod model has the alarm clock and sleep timer features, they will work seamlessly with the iM600.
Various docking adapters are included, making the iM600 compatible with most iPods. Also, an auxiliary input lets you connect any CD, DVD, or MP3 player using a stereo mini-plug.
Built-in FM Tuner
If you get bored with the songs on your iPod, the iM600 has a built-in FM tuner, letting you listen to your favorite music and talk radio. Near the top of the unit is an LCD that displays the current FM frequency; buttons on top provide tuning controls. The tuner also features a memory for four presets and a telescoping antenna for better reception.
Change the Music from Across the Room
A small remote control is included, letting you change the musical selection from across the room. A storage slot built into the system itself makes it easy to store the remote, preventing you from losing it behind couch cushions and other inconvenient places.
Take Your Music To-Go
With a compact size that folds closed to a mere 11 x 1.7 x 6 inches (W x D x H), and weighing only 2.1 pounds, the iM600 is easy to take with you to the beach, on vacation, or wherever you else you’re going. The built-in rechargeable Li-Ion battery lets you listen to more than 7 hours of continuous play. An AC adapter is included for connected listening and recharging the battery.
The Altec Lansing iM600 is backed by a one-year warranty.

5 Stars Fantastic Little Machine
I bought this for my 16 year old for Christmas ’08. I did a lot of research before choosing this product. The research paid. It is easy to use once you familiarize yourself with its bells and whistles. The speaker system is loud, yet not too loud. It is compact and easy to pack up and go. If I had had my Ipod at the time I would have purchased one for myself. I am looking at the newer model for myself. If the price does not go down soon I will be purchasing this one. Both my son and I are very pleased with this product.
4 Stars Good Buy
Bought this in Aug 08.I did alot of research before buying this product when i did.I was forced to buy this cause my Phillips 256mb PSS stopped working when the battery in it died after 2-3 years (POS..most phillips products are over time)!!The battery was not worth replacing considering this product was only double the cost.
I enjoy listening to music in places u normally wouldn’t without a vehicle around so this product is good for that.Even though it’s not even close to as portable as my old Phillips PSS (4-5 times size/weight) which can fit in ur pocket..the Altec Lansing IM600 produces alot more sound cause of the bigger speakers and sounds better so i prefer it.
Most Ipods can fit on it which means alot more music than my previous boombox. The lithium ion battery is an awsome thing to have compared to having to buy batteries all the time like most portable systems out there on the market.Just wish they could make it last a little longer like 10-12 hours at higher volumes instead of 6-8 cause i like my music loud most of the time.If u don’t change the volume much the battery will last ALOT longer..
Only other gripe would be I love waking up to music and the only way u can do this with the Altec Lansing is by leaving it plugged in and ON along with ur ipod charging. When i feel they could make it to where, when the IPOD alarm turns on the IPOD,it turns on the Altec Lansing…
Haven’t had any problems so far but that’s expected with the good reviews it has received and i’ve only owned it for 10 months.I would definitely recommend this product and the only reason i didn’t give it five stars were the gripes i had with the battery life at high volumes and no automatic turn on for alarm feature on Ipod when being off.
3 Stars Happy, but confused
This is a wonderfully slender machine, with excellent full sound, with
one odd flaw. I get great sound from the radio and when I plug in an
iPod through auxiliary, but only get sound through the left speaker when I use the iPod dock. And I’ve tried three of them (iPods). Sadly, when I spoke to Altec I got one of those responses that makes my blood run cold; “That’s not an issue we’ve ever heard of before.” Otherwise it charges quickly, runs for a long time and is all that is advertised.
1 Star What happened to this player?
I have owned this for less than two years, used it maybe 5 times and now it has stopped working. Doesn’t charge and plays only for about 20 minutes. Could it be the rechargeable battery? I have tried a couple different charges. That is not the problem. Anyone know where I can get one of these…I am very disppointed. Anyone know who I can contact?
5 Stars Great Stereo
I bought this 1 1/2 years ago and I love it! I went to the store and tested a lot of different stereos for my ipod. I thought this one sounded just as good as the bose and much better priced. It also has an fm stereo on it which the bose I was looking at did not.
