It’s easy to take your music with you with Sony’s ZS-S2iP boombox. It works with most iPod models and charges the iPod when docked. It includes a built-in digital AM/FM tuner, an integrated CD player that supports CD-R/RW playback and a wireless remote control with full iPod menu access. The dock tray is retractable when not in use.The boombox has an auxiliary input and supports AC/DC operation (batteries not included). For more sound impact, it incorporates Sony’s Mega Bass Sound system.

4 Stars Very goood dock/ boombox
The Sony is a well designed iPod dock and boombox with an emphasis on portability. The docking mechanism is very clever and hold the iPod securely against the face of the unit. I liked this design better than docks that put the iPod on top of the unit where the iPod is susceptible to being bumped or jarred loose. The cradle that holds the iPod is a sliding drawer that can retract into the boombox when not being used to hold the iPod. The cradle is most secure if the plastic cradle adaptor that come with the iPod is is used in the cradle.
Sound quality is Ok, about in the middle of the range of quality for the less expensive iPod docks. Speakers are a bit small and the bass is not strong. But the design emphasis is on portability and therefore compromises are to be expected. As a portable it can run on AC or batteries and will charge a iPod from the boombox batteries.
Overall we are pleased with this product.

The Boombox is being returned as I write this. The Ipod docking device malfunctioned after 2 hours of play. The good thing is that Sony is replacing it. Also, the MEGA-BASS function isn’t very Mega-bass.
4 Stars Better than I-Home
I had a I-Home- first the part that plays I=Pods quit === then I kept it for the radio but eventually the radio tuner went out. I like this much better- better speakers, you can preset radio channels (making turning a snap) and it plays the I Pod great— it has a remote control. Since I didn’t use the I-Home as an alarm clock I don’t miss that. And I have other clocks in the room. Oh, and a bonus — this plays CDs also.
5 Stars Exactly what is expected
It doesn’t have super big bass, but then you would never expect it to in such a small unit. We use it for our tent trailer when camping and it sounds fine. Does exactly what you expect for it’s size and does it well.
2 Stars crappy boom box
Don’t waste your money – sounds crappy – looks cheaply made – radio reception is poor. I bought 2 and wish I would have returned them.
