While charging my iPhone with this car charger it became hot to the touch.
This does not happen when I charge it on my PC with the USB cable or with the Wall Charger that came with the phone.
I visited my local AT&T store with this issue. They recommended that I immediately discontinue using this charger because it has no power regulator to safely charge the battery. I was informed that using these types of chargers may shorten the lifespan of the battery, could cause it to fail entirely, and is not covered under warranty because this product is not recommended or approved for use with any iPhone by Apple or AT&T.
5 Stars Don’t let the price fool you…
Most of the time cheap stuff is, well…cheap, but this charger rocks! I’ve had this charger for over six months and use it on a daily basis (with my iPhone). It works just as well as the day I took it out of the box.

I can’t believe how cheap, and by cheap I mean price, this charger is! You could easily spend $15 to $20 retail and this thing is only pennies? I was skeptical but after reading a few reviews i thought it wouldn’t hurt to try since i bought this for fifty cents!? What could I lose? Well i got it and I was really surprised at the quality. There is a blue indicator light to show its charging and it even says… For iPhone 3GS. Feels sturdy and the cord does not feel like some cheap plastic cord, it actually feels nice. Works perfectly, no problems!! I should have bought 2. Just go BUY IT!!

The only thing negative I have to say about this is sometimes you gotta press it in more once in awhile (the car jack end). Mine tends to get loose and stops charging. Other than that works perfectly fine and the price is awesome.

I would consider this a good charger for occasional use but I’m a little afraid to use it much with my 3GS.
When I have it plugged in and charging the phone, it makes a strange, high pitch whining sound through the iphone’s speaker/headphone jack. I think I’ll be getting a higher quality charger for when I want to leave the phone plugged in for extended periods of time. Also, the plastic plug is slightly wider than the apple chargers so if you have a case on your phone, it might be a tight fit. I have an iSkin Revo case and the rubber actually has to stretch a little to accommodate the plug.
